THE STORY BEHIND THE PASSION
How I got here
A sufferer of Restless Life Syndrome that has led me to the far corners of the world. Never able to settle on just one hobby or profession has kept things interesting along the way. From teaching English in the bustling metropolis of Moscow, Russia to swimming with whale sharks for a living on the famous Ningaloo reef in Western Australia. From barista to super yacht deckhand to apple picker to copy writer to travel blogger to bartender to disability support worker my 'professional career' has been anything but professional.
Alongside my meager attempt to make a living while following my whims as a feather follows the wind has been my multitude of hobbies. Kiteboarding, surfing, snowboarding, trekking, sewing, macrame, cooking, baking, fermenting, and heaps more that I am surely leaving out. And then there was photography and videography.
It all started with part-time job as I was traveling around Australia in my 2002 beat up old backpacker Mercedes van. I landed a spot as crew on an 18m sailing catamaran. As luck would have it the catamaran paid the crew bonuses for creating video edits, taking photos, and writing blog posts for the company.
In another stroke of rather timely coincidence the owner of the catamaran started a travel company just as I was about to drive from Airlie Beach, Queensland down around the bottom of Australia, over to the west coast and eventually working my way up to Exmouth, Western Australia. I was hired on as social media manager, content creator and SEO blog writer. I was able to document and write about all the amazing places I was seeing and things I was doing on the trip of a lifetime.
Fact 1
A self certified snorkel dork. I absolutely love being in the water and making friends with the locals. My all time most amazing job ever has hands down been swimming with whale sharks on the Ningaloo reef.
Fact 2
I have been traveling and living abroad since 2015. Starting off in Russia, bouncing around through Europe, Africa, and Asia and currently residing in Australia. It's not always easy or glamorous but the connections made and experiences had along the way make it priceless.
Fact 3
A van has been my most consistant 'home' for the past three years. The ability to travel slow and enjoy all the little treasures down the road less traveled have made it the most magical experience ever.
Fact 4
Always drawn to my creative side from a young age I pursued a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Uni with a focus in Ceramic Arts. My current creative obbsessions are sewing and film photography.
